The library will be CLOSED on Friday, June 6th and we all be meeting at 10:30am for a Field Trip!

Join us at 10:30am for access to a hidden gem, Garner Creek Trail. Park at Parkview High School, in the farthest student lot near the stadium, follow the stairs (wagons are OK but strollers not ideal) down to the creek, once you enter the woods, you will find base camp. Bathing suits and water shoes are a requirement. You will need a chair and/or picnic blanket and lunch for your family. If your kids don’t like being wet, bring a change of clothes. There are no bathrooms. Plan to use the restrooms before you come or drive to J.B Williams Park. Make sure your kids know how to identify poison ivy and avoid it. There is a designated path, but it grows wild along the sides. We will play in the creek, eat lunch, and explore the trail. Guaranteed you will leave dirty, wet, and reinvigorated!

This Field Trip is being hosted by Megan Palich with Heartwood Homeschool Connection. Megan is an experienced homeschool mother of three and former special education teacher. Heartwood Homeschool Connection was born out of her love for teaching and exploring nature and desire for a community for her children to thrive in.

Heartwood Homeschool Connection is an affordable family style learning village that meets every Friday in God’s open air classroom. Our mission is to plant seeds of faith, grow roots of friendship and learn from the heart. Our pod mothers foster a predictable routine but make room for spontaneous discoveries. We have a biblical worldview but anyone is welcomed. We create a cohesive learning experience through morning circle, story, object lesson, nature walk & journal as well as book club, outdoor enrichment activities, and freeplay. We are a loving supportive community of homeschoolers in the South Gwinnett area. If you’re looking for:

Nature-based & hands-on learning…
A place where moms can make friends while all their kids are actively engaged…
Where kids make friends and have time to play outside…
A consistent, familiar, predictable, and loving community…

Then we invite you to spend the summer with us for free, fun nature excursions every Friday to see if this community is a good fit for your family. Full paid programming resumes in September 2025. Join Heartwood Homeschool Connection on FB to learn more.
