Poetry Teatime THIS Friday!
Our first Poetry Teatime is THIS Friday, November 3rd, at 1:00pm!
What is Poetry Teatime? It’s something started by Julie at BraveWriter, and is simply a time to immerse ourselves in beautiful poetry over hot cups of tea. We know sometimes poetry can seem boring, so we want to make it special and enjoy it together as we can all learn how to appreciate it better. We’re practicing taking things slowly and savoring the experience.
We have a nice collection of poetry books in our library, which we’ll pull out for our tea party. If the children want, they can bring their own poetry book or read from one of ours. (They don’t have to say anything, though!) We will be sitting down to a decorated table and fancy teacups and a few (nut-free) treats! We’ll have a choice of tea and hot chocolate. We hope you are all able to join us!
November Storytimes
In addition to our Poetry Teatime, we have two storytimes this month.
On Friday, November 10th, we will be honoring our veterans with a special Veteran’s Day storytime and craft.
Then the following week, on Friday, November 17th, Mrs. Dorothy will be returning for a Thanksgiving storytime! We are so excited to have her, and to share Thanksgiving books and a related craft.

The Card Catalog is an online resource for private lending libraries like ours. They regularly feature libraries and this month they featured Cornerstone Living Library! We’re honored to be included, and we hope our story encourages other churches to turn their libraries into living children’s libraries as well. Save the old books!
Behind the Scenes: History Books
If you’ve been into the library this month, you’ll notice that our collection is looking more organized with spine labels! We started with our history collection since it was the most disorganized, and we’re excited to say we are close to finishing that section!
We have separated History into two categories: fiction (HF) and non-fiction (HIS). To aid our families who study history by time period, we are including the year the book begins on the spine label for both sections. We also have sorted the books on the shelves in order of date so you can quickly see which books we have for which time period. This has been quite a task, but we think it is worth it! Let us know what you think next time you come in!

It’s getting closer to my first holiday season as a Library Owl! I took a look at our newly-created Holiday section and picked out some Thanksgiving themed books to share with you this month. It was hard to choose! We have so many great ones, so be sure to come by the library to see all of them.
- In November, by Cynthia Rylant – Beautiful illustrations accompany this book about the seasonal changes and traditions that the month of November brings.
- An Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving, by Louisa May Alcott – Set in the 1800s, seven children prepare for Thanksgiving while their mother is away.
- The Thanksgiving Story, by Alice Dalgliesh – The familiar tale of the First Thanksgiving with illustrations from the delightful Helen Sewell.
- Molly’s Pilgrim, by Barbara Cohen – Molly is a new immigrant to the United States, and she and her mother connect to the story of the Pilgrims in a special way.
- Cranberry Thanksgiving, by Wende and Harry Devlin – A sweet reminder that things are not always as they appear and to have grace for one another!
